“Soil, soul, society and celebration” – unter dieses Motto wurde die weitere Entwicklung des BUFAcampus von der Eigentümerfamilie gestellt. Er soll zu einem inspirierenden Ort werden, an dem ökologisches, soziales und spirituelles Leben miteinander verbunden wird. Nach einer bewegten Filmgeschichte erweitert der Campus seine Ausrichtung. Immer mehr “changemaker” ziehen ein, um hier voneinander lernen und zusammenarbeiten. Wunderschöne, lebensbejahende Räume – draußen und drinnen – sollen den Geist dieses Projekts sichtbar machen und unterstützen.
Schon der Entwurfsprozess soll die Werte verkörpern, die später das Leben auf dem Campus prägen werden. Changemaker sollten nicht nur die Zielgruppe des Projekts sein, sondern auch diejenigen, die dazu beitragen, den Standort in seine neue Form hinein zu entwicklen. Daher lag es nahe, eine generative und partizipative Planungsweise zu wählen. Im November 2019 fand sich eine diverse Gruppe mit einem transdiziplinären Hintergrund für fünf Tage im co-working-space auf dem Campus ein, um mit uns in einer Entwurfswerkstatt vor Ort an der nachhaltigen Gestaltung und Organisationsentwicklung des Campus zu arbeiten.
Entstanden ist neben einem freiraumplanerischen Konzept auch die Idee, dass sich alle Beteiligten zu einer Bauhütte zusammentun, um diese komplexe Umbauaufgabe auf allen Ebenen miteinander zu meistern. Nach dem Motto “start right away & at your backdoor” haben wir dazu direkt den co-working-space umfunktioniert und zur Gemeinschaftsbildung direkt ein Mittagessen für alle, die bereits auf dem Campus sind, eingeführt.
Die Bäume, die auf und in unmittelbarer Nähe des Campus stehen, haben uns die ganze Woche intensiv, bis in unsere Träume hinein, begleitet. Sie haben uns nicht nur dazu inspiriert, über Bodenaufbau nachzudenken, sondern sie selber in die Mitte der Entwurfsidee zu stellen. So wie es jetzt aussieht wird im herzen des BUFA campus in Zukunft ein “Waldrand-Garten”, ein “Food Forest” wachsen.
“Soil, soul, society and celebration” – this is the motto under which the owner family has placed the further development of the BUFAcampus. It will become an inspiring place where ecological, social and spiritual life is combined. After an eventful film history, the campus is expanding its orientation. More and more “changemakers” are moving in to learn from each other and work together here. Beautiful, life-affirming spaces – outside and inside – are to make the spirit of this project visible and support it.
The aim of the design process is to embody the values that will later shape life on campus. Changemakers should not only be the project’s target group, but also those who help to develop the site into its new form. Therefore, it was obvious to choose a generative and participatory planning approach. In November 2019 a diverse group with a transdisciplinary background met for five days in the co-working-space on campus to work with us in a design workshop on the sustainable design and organisational development of the campus.
In addition to the landscape concept, the idea emerged that planers will form a “Bauhütte” in order to master this complex conversion task together on all levels. According to the motto “start right away & at your backdoor”, we directly converted the co-working space for this purpose and introduced a lunch for all those who work already on the campus to create a sense of community.
The trees that stand on and in the immediate vicinity of the campus have accompanied us intensively throughout the week, even into our dreams. They have not only inspired us to think about freeing the soil, but we placed them in the middle of the design idea. The way it looks now, a “Food Forest” will grow in the heart of the BUFA campus in the future.
